89 C4 intermittent electrical problem

I have been having an intermittent problem with the electrical system. I start the car up fine. I let it idle and warm a little then back out of the garage. Sometimes it just turns off. I try to start it again and the instrument cluster is dark when I turn the key. No sounds from the starter. Then I wait 30 min and the car starts fine. I has done this about 4 times in the last month. I had the battery changed and a faulty mirror switch changed as well. I am wondering if it is an alternator problem or maybe the DMU.
Thanks for your help

sounds like a corroded or poor battery connection or bad ground, either at the trans to body strap or the battery to body strap. check the starter connection while you're at it.
