3rd brake light not functioning
hi Gents,
a colleague pointed out my 3rd brake light was not lighting up on my 96 993 TT. i checked the fuse box and found fuse descriptions for every light except the 3rd brake light. i thought it would be a fuse, any ideas? i'm hunting around for a electrical schematic too. cheers, michael |

In my schematics, the wiring for the 3rd brake light comes off the wiring harness in the rear where the brake lights are, same fuse as the brake lights. If the bulb is good and the socket is good, then the wiring at the connector in the left fender would be suspect.

If you haven't already done so, trying surfing over to www.p-car.com and check out the DIY section. There are two repairs related to the third brakelight, one for individual bulbs, one for full failure due to broken wire. If nothing else, the pictures might be helpful in pulling things apart to diagnose the problem.

I had a similar problem and I'll bet the broken wire is the problem. It took a bit of work but using the DIY I wound up fixing it myself.

thank you gents, i'll try that next.
