94 turbo 3.6 reverse noise
 

hi everyone i am new i have clicking noise reverseing with wheels turned could it be cv joints or clutch pac in diff? it has a g 50 52 rear has any one else experienced thanks dave

Mileage?
Stock wheels and tires?
Torn CV rubber boots?
If your CV joints have not been rebuilt yet, that is a good place to start. And, less expensive than digging into the transmission. Perhaps your CV joints are dry and just need the routine lubrication?
See if you can feel the clicking in the gearshift lever. The diff issue would likely be felt through the transmission casing.

hi thanks for reply the car has 70/000 miles i have owend it since 05 i have no records on maint i just did a major maint on it changed gear oil it looked like sweptco oil was blue no metal files replaced it with sweptco it was doing it before i changed gear oil i have not serviced cv s does this require takeing the joints apart? if so should i just replace them? the wheels and tires are stock size no tears in boots i can feel the noise in shifter thanks dave

If the noise is a grinding clicking type noise more than likely what your hearing is common to the 964 turbos. Some are much louder than others. The 20/100 LSD makes a grinding type noise and most likely would be what your hearing. You might also hear it at slow speeds while going forward with the wheel turned slightly.

You can either live with it or you can try adding an additive for LSD's the next time you flush the tranny fluid. I have tried the additive but the noise comes back after a while. It is letting you know it is working. More than likely the PO had added the additive and the new fluid is now allowingyou to hear the noise. I found when I used Swepco the noise was the loudest.
