993 electrical - wipers and radio?

I have a 1995 883. The battery died, and after I charged it, neither the radio nor the intermittent wiper setting work. The wipers do work, but not on intermittent. The radio is just d e a d . . . no light up, no nothing. Fuses look fine.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hmmm. Try disconnecting your battery for four hours. I'm not too optimistic - it sounds like the charger fried something...

You could try to apply 12V directly to the radio on a bench. At least that would isolate where to look next:

Were you able to fix the problem? What was the fix.

I'm having a similar issue. After charging the battery. The intermitten wiper stop working, but the radio turns on the back light (Amber), but no audio.

Please help.

To pass on some advice, North Hollywood VDO told me that if I wanted to charge the battery, disconnect it first. They informed me that even the Porsche battery charger that plugs into the lighter can cause problems to the cars gauges and circuitry. I would assume that could apply to all the cars electronics.

There is a separate relay for the intermittent wipers. R42 in the main relay box.
The stereo is just fused. Is it the original stereo?
