Help! 964 Stranded!

Hi folks - my cousin is stranded right now in West Virginia, near Franklin, car will not start. Ran great the last 2 days and all this morning. He stopped to fill up for gas - and will not restart. Engine turns - but will not catch. I have an SC - but the 964's are little trickier. Could it be his fuel pump dying that suddenly? Any other common symptoms for the 964's?

Any advice which might help him restart? Its a '93 964 Coupe.

Ideas welcome! Thanks!

Maurice

Most likely culprit is DME relay, located in the fuse box. Try removing it, tapping on it, and putting it back in.

New (upgraded) part number is 993.615.227.00. The old (weak link) part number starts with 944.

Thanks, Kris - he went through your steps to no avail - DME is probably fried. Will let you know how the story ends.

Thanks for quick reply,
Maurice

Jumper pins 3, 5 and 7 in the DME socket (relay R41). That'll get him home if it's the DME that's bad.

just what mine did. it was the fuel pump

you can actually remove the plastic case on the DME relay and watch the relays as they work, if both don't work you have a problem, if both do, it is likely the fuel pump.

hey everyone, just wanted to circle back and let you know the culprit, was indeed, the DME relay. He plugged in a new one and the engine fired right up!

Thanks again for all the quick replies and support.

Maurice
