Bizarre Heater Issue
 

On those chilly mornings when I take my kid to school, and the top is down, sometimes I need to run the heater. At first it gets real warm, but when I go to turn on the fan the fan blows for a few seconds and then stops. OK so I just let it work by the outside air blowing the heated air through. But here's the rub, after a while the hot air cools down and becomes just sort of warm. Help! What does all this mean? Is my 91 964 possessed?

Check the rear blower's fuse. It is 1 of the 3 fuses in next to the coils.

Thanks for the advice, I went to look and now I have another issue I cant unscrew the bolts to open the fuze box. They turn but don't unscrew. Silly car

too much heat in footwell and blower stops
 

Chris, I have the same car and the same problem with the blower. Whenever I want to turn on the blower with the temp knob turned up even just a bit, the blower turns off. I also have tremendous heat in the driver footwell. I mean scorching when it is a hot weekend in NY as it was this past one. Do you or anyone have any solutions in addition to checking the fuses mentioned below?

Dean, You asked about something I can help you with! The footwell heat problem. If I understand you correctly the problem is on the drivers side. As you sit in the car on the left side, there is a section of carpet covering a panel. Take it off. You should see a section of tubing. That tubing is cracked and leaking hot air. When you go to porsche to replace the part, I had to, make sure you let the guy know which side the tubing came from. There is a difference. This is what I did and NO MORE HEAT PROBLEMS. Now if I can only figure out how to get the fuse box in the motor area open I can check the fuses.

I am going to look behind that carpet tonight. Interestingly, I just had the hood pull assembly replaced as the plastic had broken and no longer held the screw so that piece of carpet would not stay in place. I also know there is an after market alpine alarm component back there from the previous owner. Perhaps the hose became disconnected or cracked by being pressed upon. Do you recall if I will need to unscrew the hood pull piece to get behind that section? I think I wil but just confirming.
I too will try to find out about accessing that fuse box as I need to fix that blower problem as well. Where exactly is that fuse box located?

Not sure if my situation is the same but I'm willing to look.

The passenger side always has heat blowing on the floor. I was thinking that maybe the heat controller in the rear was stuck open. Different symptom?
