Question can someone help

Idle speed on my 96 993 is 1100 rpm.This is to high.I have cleaned the idle speed adjuster.let it run for 15-20 min. rpm is 950 rpm.took it for a 10 min.test drive,idle rpm is now 1100 rpm.What can be the problem.Please help

My first guess is the idle contact is not closing properly at idle. Could be a mis-adjusted throttle cable or linkage or just buildup of dirt on the throttle mechanism.
