At very long last my first Porsche

Hi everybody,
After what seems very nearly forever I finally got around to buying my first Porsche

I have had all kind of motorized toys from Bimota motorcycles to a 1983 turbo Bentley even a hovercraft but never a Porsche and as they say it seems that there is no substitute so the itch just stayed...Untill now.

I found a very nice 1995 cabrio black on tan, 140kkm, freshly serviced, 2 owners, all documents, tool kit, etc for 27k Canadian so about 21800 us

There is still some minor paper work to be done but I should be driving it very shortly and I absolutely cannot wait !!!

I normally do all my maintenance and spent countless hours reading through the forum already, I like it so much I think it convinced me even more if that was possible to get a 911.

So I very much look forward to sharing my ownership experience with you and ask you to be patient if I ask stupid questions, I am a newbie...

I will try to post pictures as soon as i can.

I am in love !!!

After the first day it feels so much better than any other car i have had

Compared to my previous sports car a Nissan 350z it is better in every way !!!

The throttle response is sharper and the engine slows down just fast enough for perfectly synchronized shifts every time

The transmission itself fells much better, much less notchy.

The seats are better.

The ride is better.

The steering is much better not faster as the other was very fast too but better weighted and with much better straight line stability.

The only little thing is an inoperative cruise control so if there is a known cause / cure tell me.

I was going to take pictures on an airport runway where as an air traffic controller I am allowed to go play on but forgot my camera this morning sorry.

Thank you for your time and especially for the 5 star rating on my first post !!!

Sports seats! Very nice. Now put some MY'02 Carrera 5-spoke 18" rims on it.

It'll look brand new.

Paul.

You realize when your first is a 993 you are irretreivably spoiled? What next huh Is that you down that slope? See what I mean?

Dude what a nice cab! The upgrade to 993 rear suspension from prior rear 911 suspension makes it smooth!

Regards,

Envy. Jealousy. Two of my first thoughts/feelings. absolutely beautiful combination of colour and add the cabrio effect - I am drooling.

Wow - I really need to get my car and tell a story like this one.

Congrats on the purchase - if you have more photos, please post - especially with a 767 in the background!

Cheers,
Thom.

Nice Cab and sweet color combo with the tan leather.

I read on the 964 companion by Adrian Streather that the main problem with the cruise control is the micro switch under the brake pedal. I'm not sure if that is the situation with 993s.

Hi Frank,
When driving my car home after purchase in Georgia, the cruise control would not work. Then, mysteriously, it has worked okay ever since. I was told by the p-car stealership wrench that small adjustments need to be made at the brake pedal and/or accelerator pedal.
If mine acts up again, that's what I plan to investigate.
Others may have more definative info on this.
Best regards,
Don

Thanks guys, it was the brake pedal switch it works fine now.

Yes it is a hovercraft, noisy as **** , not as good as a boat in water and not as good as a snowmobile in snow but a great conversation piece

It has been a week and a thousand k and I cant let go of it I just want to drive and then drive a bit more...

Frank,
Did you need to replace the switch or adjust it?

I did not repair or replace, I tried moving the pedal by hand and it was stiff in the upper travel probably from not much use in the last couple of years but just by moving it back and forth by hand it loosened up

I will try to find if there is something to be oiled in the linkage next time I work on it.

Clutch peldal sticking (not coming all the way up) will disable the CC, as well.
