Exhaust Tip Adjustment

Hello everyone,

I have finally replaced my original 964 motor mounts to genuine 993 mounts on my '91 C2. Now the car handles like a go cart along with a better ride. There is no more free play in the rear. I am very happy with it.

But I realized that there is only small space between the tip and rear valance exhaust cut out. I knew whole engine would raise a little with new motor mount but the space is only about 1/6" and looks odd to me. The tip is not touching the valance so I don't have to worry about the fire or melting plastic component. I want to make the space greater to look normal.

So how do I adjust the angle or position of the exhaust tip?

Thanks in advance

I suspect you'll have to undo the secondary muffler to re-position the tip or is the tip separate from the muffler?? Darn.. I can't remember. It's been a few years.
I guess look under the car, regardless its quite simple just need some tools and some pb-blaster in advance.. Be prepared in case a nut breaks off.

Thanks for the advise, Oracle,

Did you install 993 motor mount on your 964?

I am wondering if I will have to install some spacers between the motor mount and engine carrier.

The exhaust tip bolts on after the secondary muffler. Takes a 13mm open end and a 13mm socket. Try loosening and adjusting it with the car sitting on all 4 as the engine and tip move with the engine.
Simple 15 minute job.

Thanks for the tip, group911!

It's a minute job.

What a great joints the car has! It is adjustable @ almost every joints unlike my other car 914's original exhaust system.

Definitely a DIYer friendly.
