				How much brake/clutch fluid?

I have planned to flush the brake and clutch fluids in my 993. How much fluid is usually required?

Get 2 liters/quarts, should be enough. Remember to pinch off the reservoir overflow tube. I use ATE Super Blue.

Yes, two liters is good. You may be able to get away with just one, but it's good to have another ready.

You might want to use a different color brake fluid than what you currently have so you can see when you have flushed out the majority of the old fluid. Unless your current fluid is really old and dirty, it is hard to see when you have flushed out enough.

Just bought 2 liters of MOTUL RBF600, maybe not the very best on the market, but apparently very good. |

I've never needed more than 1 qt. I use a Motive power bleeder to make it a simple 1-person job. As mentioned alternating colors of fluid makes it very easy to see when the lines are minimally bled. I usually let it go longer to ensure a good flush because I trash any 'extra' fluid left in the bleeder anyway.

If you have an overflow tube, you can order the update kit to remove it and go with the pressure release cap. You'll never again end up with a puddle of brake fluid on the floor because you forgot to clamp the darn overflow tube.

There is an update kit that includes a new cap and a plug for the overflow vent on the reservoir. I can try and find the info at home or you could try a search on the 993 board on Rennlist (that's where I got the info a few years back). It might be in the PET too, but I haven't looked.

I did the upgrade to my '95 993 but never got to it on the 964 before I removed the stock brake system and went to a Tilton dual master cylinder setup. Just did a search. Look here: http://www.pcarworkshop.com/images/6/62/4710_1996_6tu40196geolab.pdf You'll need parts 2A, 5A and 6A on a C2 (vacuum assisted brakes)

So where can you get 6A the cap. I assume you could use any hose clamp. Or has anyone made up there own cap?

You should be able to get them from any Porsche dealer. I did not spent the time to do a complete search on Rennlist, but I recall I ordered it as a kit from the local dealer. I think you can find the kit part number via a search.

You could get the clamp from a good hardware store it's just a small hose clamp. The tougher part would be to get a nice plug for the overfill hole.
