C2 turbo shift linkage: got very "easy" all of a sudden

My wife's 911 turbo lost the front coupler a month back: I rebuilt it with a new one off my 928 race car (not yet running), yet yesterday she reported that her shifter felt very "easy" all of a sudden.

She's right: it moves like the ease of a Honda. I got under the car again & determined that my front coupler bushing fix was successful. It still shifts, but she's very worried that she'll be left on the side of the road again if something is "breaking".

Thoughts? I plan to put it up on my lift this sunday & check it out, but wanted comments first.

Thanks, Mark.

So since when did Honda become the gold standard for shifting ease?

It was the "other" ball cup bushing at the base of her shift lever: it was totally trashed & broken & I have another coming. Honda's shift with little direction as to where your lever is headed between gears. Porsche's are more precise, take a wee-bit more effort to push back & forth: that's all.

Calm down Paul B...I love my car, put 170k on it as well!
