Replacing rear spoiler C2S

If the market for these cars go any lower I think it would be a good time to buy. There are several 993 C2S tiptronic for sale that I'm looking at and they have rear turbo spoilers. I don't care for them, so how does one go about replacing them with the standard pop-up spoiler?

It seems the easiest would be change deck lids with the stock spoiler. I am not sure if you removed the tail, if there would be holes to patch. Getting a another deck lid gives you the most options in the future. You might post on the 993 forum on rennlist.SmileWavy

Cheers,

spoiler

The rear deck lid and spoiler have to be replaced to put on the standard rising spoiler.

I am sure many people would trade you. I just purchased a C4S wing to replace my factory tail.

Is it complicated to install the spoiler motor? Were there any holes to patch?

wing

The C2S wing came with the deck lid and wing. They are both fiberglass. The factory deck lid is metal with the motor and wing attached.

Before you go too far, check and see what is needed in terms of wiring and interior switches and lights. The wiring harness is probably the same for all cars, but you may have to install some switches and lights before the spoiler will work properly.

Also, if you haven't done so, you may want to find someone with the motorized spoiler and make sure you're happy with the look when it is in the up position...I hate mine...Looks like I'm riding around with a elementary school lunchroom tray mounted on the rear deck. Paul Frere once wrote that the reason Porsche made the spoiler retractable was so that the owners of 993s would never see how ugly they were.
