C2, how lite can it get?

What weight can we get a C2 down to?

About how much dose the ABS braking system add?

About how much dose the Power Steering add?

Can we get down to around 2300lbs with fiber bumpers, front fenders, hood, rear deck/RS spoiler, front glass, plastic for the rest of the windows, CUP II's, striped interior w 2 Recars, headers, lt burns mufflers, full fiber roof panel to replace the SR but retaining lights & wipers?

Thx.

I guess the factory 4wd lt wt might be a referance point. Looks like it came in at about 2400 lbs w the special 4wd system.

Found the following statements:

"Steering was power assisted, as on the stock Carrera 4, the braking system getting dual master cylinders with an adjustable balance bar for fine-tuning the bias. Underneath, a thin coat of Cosmoline was sprayed on for rust proofing. Very little was done to what was effectively the stock RS engine, but with no muffler or catalytic converter, these cars were probably realizing close to 300bhp. The motor was coupled to a Rally gearbox similar to the type used on Porsche’s old Paris-Dakar contenders. It featured two switches on the centre console that allowed the driver to adjust the torque split of the centre and rear differentials. Meanwhile, the body shell was hopped-up with sliding Plexiglas side windows, aluminum doors, an aluminum front lid and an engine cover fabricated in fiberglass.
A fixed spoiler similar to the type used on the 911 SC/RS was installed along with faired wing mirrors and retaining pins for the front lid and engine cover. In the cockpit, no carpeting or soundproofing was applied, Porsche equipping each of these factory hot rods with an aluminum roll cage, racing seats, a small three-spoke steering wheel and Halon fire system. Tipping the scales at precisely 1100kg, the Carrera 4 Lightweight’s extremely short gearing meant it was typically good for around 130mph and 0-60mph in under 4.5 seconds. Just 20 were built, all of which are believed to have been finished in left-hand dive and painted Grand Prix White."

Found a couple of interesting pics.

Note dual non bosted master cylinders:

Mine is 2460#, but Tom W's is several hundred pounds lighter. Search for some of his past threads for the details.

I doubt you can get to 2400 lbs without stripping it back to the tub and rebuilding with the non-essential stuff removed. But yes, you can get there. It's simply a matter of spending the effort and the money.

I'm at 2350ish with me in the car (call it 200) so about 2150 with fumes in the gas tank. That came via extreme efforts. Another guy I race with also started with a 964 and did the same but was about 40 lbs heavier because he still had fender fill gas, hood hinges and a bunch of other small stuff that adds up. I think of the 75-80 lbs if wiring harness we tore out of the dash as a good example of the heavy stuff that you don't need in a race car. I think the replacement wiring was about 5 lbs.

If you expect to keep doors with windows (plastic or glass) wipers and lights - I doubt it. I was at 2600 with the doors gutted, the climate control removed and all the other non-essential stuff removed but with wipers, lights and the stock wiring harness and dash.
