Another Rear Blower Issue

Using the search button I have found out I certainly am not the first person to have their engine mounted blower motor stay on (and kill the battery) , nor the last.

I am hoping to create a bit of a troubleshooting database for this issue, there are a lot of questions, and answers, but no comprehensive threads.

In the mean time I am trying to troubleshoot this issue, without benefit of Durametric or a Porsche Hammer.

The fan stays on forever, killing my battery. So questions:

1. It is winter, I don't need the fan to cool my engine, will I get heat without this fan?

2. The NTC sensor resistance drops as I heat it, so I assume that works. Does anyone have a graph or chart of resistance vs. temperature?

3. What controls the run-time after shut off? The heat computer?

4. Where do the NTC sensor wires terminate? I need to trace them back and make sure I don't have an open circuit.

5. I find my car is generally too warm in winter, even with the temp set to the second lowest setting (the lowest setting appears to turn the heat off completely). Could this be related to the fan running too much of the time? Or is the heat simply controlled by the servo-flaps?

Regarding the fan running on...
you have two sensors in the tube. One coil and one probe like. I had the problem years ago and replaced the probe. That worked.
As far as too much heat....the ccu can be tempermental. try setting the thermostat knob at different ranges. Leave the fan off. It should send a signal to the system to force more air in by using the rear fan if the temp is not satisfied. Good luck
