Starting Problems
Hi,
I have a 964 which isn't starting right, the fuel pump isn't getting any power to it. I have put a volt meter on the fuel pump and its completely dead, but if i put the wires directly from the battery to the fuel pump the fuel pump then starts up, so this points at fuse issue? now correct me if i'm wrong but is the only fuse/relay for the fuel pump on the DME? or is there other fuses which controlle the fuel pump? On another note: Does anyone know what the relay is under the drivers seat? Look forward to hearing from you! |

fuse
I am away from my schematics, but the fuel pump fuse is one of the higher #'d fuses closest to the passenger fender in your fuse panel. Look around #55. If it is blown that is usually a symptom that the pump is failing. The brushes get "stuck" and it is hard to turn. Those fuel pumps are not known to be long-lived. Hope that helps.

Have you tried a new DME relay? These regularly fail and cause your symptoms, for the sake of £20 it's the most likely culprit. Hope this helps.

BTW it's in the fuse box in the front. The part number of the original starts with 944 and has been superceded with an improved version which starts with 993. If you go to Rennlist.com and search on the 964 forum you will find many incidences of failure and where to find it in the fuse box. Good luck! Mine failed last year and had the original 944 part.
