Is Durametric The Only 964 Software Option?

Is there any software other than Durametric (i.e. cheaper) ?

I don't know, That is not bad for the price though. Makes life a bunch easier being able to use an ordinary obdII scanner...

But can you actually use an OBD-II scanner on a 964 if you buy the cable?

That is a good question.

Thats what the website it eluding to- I would call them first to make sure- It would be great if it did, but I dont see how it could work.

I was asking the same question a couple of weeks back.

Over on rennlist they mentioned that a chap had produced a kit/interface and
cable. It used the Scantool software. This version is significantly cheaper than
the Durametric option. Search for "Scantool", you'll find it.

I was very tempted, but I needed to read the Tiptronic error codes too, so in the
end I went for the Durametric.

One of the chaps on the Rennlist forum asked if i could write a review on it,
which I will when I get a chance.

I can't say for certain, but I wouldn't imagine you can't use ODBII to read all the
information provided by OBDI.

I have the scantool one from someone on rennlist. Works well, but you have to have a laptop or a desktop in your garage.

What cable/interface do you use? Is it part the scantool?

I've downloaded the software I need but can't find the interface anywhere. there was a guy in the UK making them, but he doesn't reply to email.

A guy on rennlist made a batch of them. Nice little units. Came in a nice old portable telephone case. Have not seen anymore about making more.

Ive just purchased my first Porsche a 1991 964 turbo is the Durametric Enthusiast with the 19pin cabel right for me? The car hasn't made it out west yet but from my research I don't think the 3.3L cis or ez69 systems are supported with DME without the Bosch Hammer what would be your advise to a DIYer in Juneau Alaska.

The Durametric website has an error. When you select 964's the resulting page shows 928 as the correct package to buy. I am sure this is wrong, maybe you should call them.

Regardless, you do need the 19 pin plug/adaptor, which shows in the picture of the kit on the page below. The 19 pin adaptor converts to an OBD-II, and then the regular OBD-II plug to USB will work.

I suspect the adaptor is the same as the one I posted in post #1 above.
