Loose Wires...

This may be a stupid question, in which case, please forgive me...

What is this wire for, and should I be scared that it's just hanging there loose? It's on the passenger's side, right near the hood shock.

Also, on a related note, while installing a new stereo and trying to navigate the bird's nest of wires the PO had left back there, I ended up blowing the radio/blower fuse. No biggie, cleaned up the crappy wiring, put the new unit in, replaced the fuse, and everything worked fine. Only I noticed that after testing the new stereo the rear blower came on, but I hadn't started the car at all... The next day, I found myself recharging a dead battery.

So...could I have also fried the temperature sensor back there when I blew the fuse to the stereo? If so, where exactly is it, and is there an easy way to check if it's good or not before I order a new one? I'm also going to charge it up and yank the radio/blower fuse, so see if that keeps it from draining.

That wire - two red and a brown - goes to your trunk light. There should be another connecter at the end of the wires clipped to the hing in the same area. Some people remove theirs because the light in the trunk is staying on. Adjusting the switch so the light goes off when the lid is closed is another more elegant method.

Drop me a PM with an email address that can handle a 5MB PDF. I'll send you some schematics that should help you diagnose the fan problem. If you can figure out the stereo mess, then you can figure out a fan circuit.

Update:

Dug around and found the other lead to the wire hiding within the bowels. So that's taken care of. PO must have unplugged it to keep the light from coming on, so I will have to be mindful of that in case the switch is messed up and it was draining the battery.
