Porsche Crest Need paint recommendation for the lower half of my 964 door sills

I want to repaint the lower BLACK half of the door sills on my 964 Coupe. Over the last 20 years, they have accumulated several minor paint scratches. Fortunately, the scratches have not penetrated into the plastic sills themselves. Can someone recommend the best black paint to use in this application. I don't have an airless paint sprayer, but could rent one if necessary.

Thanks,

David Schmidt

Are you talking about the plastic sections under each door that has half color of your car and half matte black??? If so, i used this and its really nice, gives it that nice satin finish and looked factory.

Porsche Crest Great Paint Suggestion

I appreciate your suggestion to use Dupli-Color's Trim Black spray product. I'm going out today to buy some!

Porsche Crest Great Paint Suggestion

I just used Duplicolor's flat black trim paint on my C-2. The paint comes in aerosol cans and is available in several sizes. I found that their large can was sufficient for my car's black trim.

Unlike general purpose spray paint, Duplicolor products were designed to be used in automotive applications. This is highlighted by the fact that the paint sprayed on evenly in a fan pattern...like an airless sprayer. This allowed me to apply the paint smoothly and quickly. It dried super fast..without any of those pesky runs. I only had to wait a couple of minutes between coats. I used 3 coats to ensure the trim will look good and hold up for a long time. It takes time and effort to tape off the areas you want to paint, so I recommend at least 3 coats to make the effort really count.

My first impression of this Duplicolor product was...fantastic! They have a complete product line of paint, undercoating, etc., and it comes in a wide range of colors. I plan to use their spray paints on ALL of my future automotive (and non-automotive) projects.

Why not colour code with the body colour, I did my 964 like that and like the clear front lights and it just looks more modern...if thats what you like
