Earlier 911 Windshield interchange with 1993 964?
I've got a 93 911 that needs the windshield replaced. This one has the internal imbedded radio antenna. Will an earlier model 911 windshield work as well? I've heard only 89-94 year models will work but not sure. Thanks. Bill

I think you can replace your windshield with an earlier model, but a) you'll obviously lose the antenna and b) I believe you have to use earlier model rubber trim, etc.
I'm getting mine replaced with a new 964 windshield (it'll run me almost $800!), I'll see if I can find out for sure about this. Are you trying to save money or just looking at options?

Doug. Wow had no idea the 964 windshield was that expensive. So I guess yes I'm looking at saving money now as much as looking at options. Yes let me know if you can find out more info. Thanks. Bill

Unfortunately I'm finding out nothing is cheap with 964s. But on the other hand I was told new 964 windshields were $1000 alone, so I'm feeling a little better about getting one installed for "only" $800.

I'm having a company replace my windshield at the moment. The porsche branded windshield was indeed $1k+. We're going with an aftermarket that is ~$400 (as I recall). According to the the shop they are manufactured in the same facilities however do not have the porsche badging. They have the antenna and tint...just not the official porsche label.
Couple of observations on my job...you will want the newer seal if you don't have it already. The porsche seal was the only one they would use. Also be prepared to see some rust near the bottom of the a pillars. Common problem. The only water my car typically see's is in a washing and it had some showing. Shop details below...you can call them to perhaps source your parts and get tips on the install. They are well versed on porsche cars; Euroglass 7510 159th Pl NE Redmond, WA 98052 (425) 883-2989 |
