Help with wheel sizes!
I have a 1991 C2 with factory 16" rims. Can someone point me in the direction of how to get educated about what will fit my car. I eventually would like to change my rims to a 17" or even possibly 18" rims. How do I know what will fit without causing rubbing problems? How do I get educated about what an offset is and when I need to be worried about spacers and the size spacer I would need? If I wanted inexpensive rims - that are good and functional - what should I look for and what do I need to stay away from? Forged / casted / etc??
Would be willing to look at pics of wheels that anyone may have for sale. (I do not want D90's or cups - looking for something a little different. Some of the RUF pics are nice - but too costly for me) ![]() Help! Thanks Rob |

I upgraded my 16" D90's on my '92 to the following 17" rims off of a Boxter (I believe) and they fit perfectly. It's been a year, but I am fairly certain these are the same offsets you have:
Front 205-50-17 with a rim offset of 52mm Rear is a 255-40-17 with a rim offset of 47mm Matt

Original offsets on D90's 16" is 52. (if this is what you have). I've installed 17" 996 Turbo Twists,
7" & 9" (55 offsets) 255's in the rear and 225's in the front. I installed 5MM spacers front, to prevent fender rub at turn in, and 5MM spacers in the rear, to give a little more clearance to the oil line. |
