Question Oil or maybe gas leaking?

Please look at the picture of the engine compartment of my 1990 C2, the red arrow shows a hose of some sort that's half covered in oil, and then the blue arrow shows some of the same oily substance on the "floor" (the picture shows the left side of the engine bay).

Does anyone have an idea what causes this leak and how to fix it?

Thanks,
Zajo

It's likely the oil cover gasket # 930 107 791 01. Rectangular gasket under cover held on by (4) 10mm nuts. You will have to remove pieces and parts in the way to get to it as it is on top of the engine in the rear, under the intake plenum.

If it is real light amount of oil (almost just a dusting with dirt stuck to it), and no liquid-

It could be sweating from the intake pipe above. If thats the case, it's quite normal.

I looked it up in the catalog and ummm it seems lots of work to get to this gasket! Have you ever done this?

Thanks,
Zajo

I've done it before without problems but it can be time consuming, however given my experience level I expected that.
