Where are the Knock Sensors on a 993?
Hello,
i have an error code from the DME reading knock sensor 2. I guess it's the sensor itself, because a bad fuel would have trigger both sensors from each cylinders banks. The engine rattles at idle. I never changed one of those sensors and wonder were are they located, and how can i easily get to the bank 2 sensor? i guess i will have to remove the air filter assembly, and maybe the air intake distributor? any idea? let me know thanks Cedric SmileWavy |
Here's an illustration, it's right on top of the cylinder head. The workshop manual suggests reseating the connector to elminate contact resistance before replacing the sensor.

thank you for the illustration!
but how do you get there? i was thinking about removing the Fan assembly with the alternator to get under the engine shroud. What do you mean by reseating the sensor? |
Unplug the sensor connector, check connections, replug. I looks like you do have to get under the shroud, which is why you want to check the electrical connections first.
