964 Cab Top Question

I hope someone can help. I have a 964 1990 Cabriolet I had bought a few weeks ago. At that time the top was working fine, but recently the two motors that lock the top to the windshield stopped working in the top up (covered) position. The top moves up and down ok but will not close on the windshield. If I manually hand turn the motors to lock the top to the windshield and then put the top down using the switch they work just fine but won't work when I put the top back up. I have tested the two motors by putting 12 volt wires to the motor contacts an then reverse the polarity, they work correctly as they should. There are two micro switches in the top front also that make contact to the windshield when the top is up, which I assume shut the motors off (if they worked) when it is completely up and locked but can anyone tell me what turns these motors on?

Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

The microswitches actually tell the brain that the top is in position for the latches to start latching.

So if the microswitches don't make contact, the latches won't close.

Thanks Tyson that was my thought but wanted an experienced second opinion.

I'll try it and we'll see.
