Kaboom

Upon start up, cold or warm, the right side of my intake plenum blows up with a big boom. Problem was intermittent in nature @ first, but has become more prevalent.
Fuel or ignition??? any input would be appreciated

When I numbered all the spark plug wires and reviewed the firing orders for both distributor caps, I found that the lower #4 & #5 spark plug wires got swapped somehow. Hope that solves problem

To be continued:

Installed new NGK 5099 spark plugs to get a spark plug reading.
Found the classic chocolate brown insulators as desired expect in #3, where that spark plug smelled like raw fuel???

Upon start up it ran for a while , but couldn't get to idle.
Stall occurred and tried restart until the barn door assembly blew off, AGAIN

Went to the POC race @ Fontana on Saturday to talk to the knowledge base available.
Only 120 degrees with 165 asphalt temps, real passion for motorsports, OMG

The tip I got was to suck on the vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator and check for the presence of gasoline.

Bingo, mouthful of gas.

Question is sources, prices, and removal / install process for fuel regulator

When the fuel lines got disconnected from the regulator, I found that the swaged end of one of the hoses was able to rotate. A little effort got the second one to do the same. replaced both pressure hoses from regulator to the fuel rail

Mg ,
Paul Mason is selling kits for 964 fuel lines , and I talked to him about sets for 3.6 conversions .
Might be worth checking in with him as I can’t remember what he said .

I think earomotive made I nice fpr I saw once ...

And finally ,
My old grandmother used to say don’t put anything in your mouth and suck on it unless you want a mouthful of nasty stuff ..
