Motor spins, won't fire

Hi All, I have a 1990 C2 with 38,00 original miles. Car has never given me any problems..UNTIL THIS MORNING! When I went to start it I noticed I didn't hear the "click" when I turned the key. The motor spins like it wants to start but does not fire. Seems that the "no click" and the "no start" have to be related, right? Your expertise and opinion is really appreciated as I am stuck....

First guess would be the DME relay.

This happened to me a coupe of months ago when I drove my car to work and couldn't get it started at the end of the day. I swapped the DME and Vroooooom!

I have thread on this....you need to find out if you have spark and then test for power at certain areas. Most likely it's the DME relay.....but not always.

PM me if you need help.

If you don't have a spare DME relay, a triple wire jumper plugged to pins 30, 87 and 87b on the DME relay socket will simulate the relay, supply power to the fuel pump, DME and injectors. If the car starts, you have a bad DME relay. If it does not start, the problem is somewhere else.
The jumper is a test tool or a limp home tool and should never be used as a permanent fix.

Good luck.

Cool

THANKS for the responses. After following the jumper advice the car started and I have ordered the DME relay from Pelican. I love this forum.

If the relay isn't it......which I hope it is.....have a digital meter ready. Mine needed it.

Good luck.
