For fadded taillights...

I was to buy a complete set of corners and center lights for the 993 and I tried the following with impressive results ( like new ) Nobody can say it's not new, even from 3''

Water sanded with 2000 grain
Applied Duplicolor Clear plastic promoter
Water sanded with 2000 grain
5 coats of DUPLICOLOR TRANSLUCENT CANDY APLLE RED ( Air brush )
Rest for 24 hours
Water sanded with 2000 grain
3 coats of Duplicolor top coat clear
Rest for 24 hours
Water sanded with 2000 grain
3M ( 3 stage coumpound )
3M polymer wax until mirror finish.

Look at the results...

Would you mind sharing what your products cost you versus a replacement? My first 993 is being delivered this week and, judging from the pictures, this may be an issue I will have to deal with. TIA

There you go, if you are DIY guy, you'll probably shoot it yourself as I did,

Here are the average costs

-Water sanded with 2000 grain.....5.00
-Applied Duplicolor Clear plastic promoter......12.00
-Water sanded with 2000 grain until no orange peel
-5 coats of DUPLICOLOR TRANSLUCENT CANDY APLLE RED ( Air brush ).....30.00Rest for 24 hours
Water sanded with 2000 grain
3 coats of Duplicolor top coat clear.....30.00 ( 1 quart )Rest for 24 hours
Water sanded with 2000 grain
3M ( 3 stage coumpound ) ...... Already had it, but it's about 15.00 / grade
3M polymer wax until mirror finish. 20.00 ( It's the Mcguiars wax )

Total material.:: 100.00
Coumpound.:: You can use a standard rubbing coumpond so add 15.00
Rent of an electric low pressure gun.:: 25.00
Under 150.00 if you have some of the stuff for regular maintenance. ( wax-coumpound ..)
The red marked items are what I bought.

Thank you

Meguiers plastic cleaner and plastic polish worked for me. I wouldn't have the 'nads to take 2000 grit sandpaper to my lenses.
I painted mine with red paint around the edges along the surface that seals with the gaskets. The red got reflected into the rest of the taillight, making it redder. In doing this rather than painting the entire lens, I was able to preserve the white area of the back-up lights and the amber turn signal lights.
