resurfacing my 3.6 to 3.8
 

I'm fixing the oil leak of my 964 but checking inside engine I found cylinders and rings are over the recommended end gap limit.

It's possible to resurface the 3.6 cylinder in order to use a 102mm JE ovesize piston and rings and increase to 3.8?

I am using the same manifold but a better BCM cone filter and headers and exhaust system. Also performance chip

This cuestion goes because the higher p/c 3.8 cost vs 3.8 JE pistons

I am in the process of upsizing from 3.6 to 3.8 with JE pistons but I am also replacing the cylinders (Nickies). My reasoning was to ensure that the piston and cylinder are of the same alloy to match thermal expansion rates. The OEM cylinder alloy is different than the JE piston alloy and there will be a differential effect due to temperature changes. So, if you want to use JE pistons with stock cylinders, you need to make sure you have adequate clearance for this. You should be able to get this information from your JE piston supplier (I used EBS Racing) to produce the correct cylinder rebore diameter. Hope that helps. Good luck.

3.6 to 3.8 upgrade
 

I bought a 102 mm JE pistons and LE cylinders to upgrade my 964 3.6L to 3.8L, put the vertex chip, cone filter and schenell x pipe (one oxigen sensor) and believe me it's an amazing change. I am using motul 7100 oil 20W50 100 % synthetic for 4t motorcycle api sg,sh,sj,sl. going to 7000 rpm with no problem
