Import a 964RS from Europe to California?

Hi

Is the 964RS streetlegal in California?

Do you guys see any issues in importing one from Sweden and getting it registered?

It used to be that a person could bring in one vehicle, at least 5 years old, and it would have an EPA exemption. Not sure the status of that. I do think you could make the necessary DOT required changes without too much of a problem,...but the EPA would probably be a challenge. DOT requirements pertain to headlights, sidemarkers, door reinforcements etc, and some of those probably already comply. It would cost alot,...but then,...the car would be worth alot as well.

If it was easy though,...we'd probably see a few more on U.S. roads.

It's been done and not just for off-road use. Someone did a while ago. He's been on this forum or rennlist... had a 'for sale' listing on this forum about a year ago or so. Nice Maritime blue... Not sure what he had to do to register it. I'd love to see some here in Canada with the 15 year exemption rule.
