How to hold the input transmission shaft?
 

Hello guys,

I'm disassembling my G64.51 transmission from my 993 Turbo.
I have some trouble with the first gear.

It was going pretty well so far until i had to remove the hexagonal nut that retains all the gear wheels etc.
When i try to loosen the nut, the shafts rotate at the same time.

The thing is that two specific tools are required to hold the output and input shafts.

they are 000.721.925.30 and another factory tool, kind of wrench, and are incredibly expensive. I do not use to repair lots of transmissions so i won't spend $1000 for those tools.

Now i'm looking for an inexpensive way to hold those shafts.
Do you guys know a way to hold them with common tools, without damaging the splines?

i even thought about finding an old clutch pressure plate, and screw it into some reinforcing bar to block the input shaft, but i didn't find any old clutch disc in any of the local shops i visited.

If you guys can help, that would be wonderful!

I was just thinking about the same problem recently as I am planning on changing 6th gear out. The only thing I could come up with is the idea you mentioned. Take an old clutch disc and bolt or weld some arms to it to make it function like the factory tool. I happen to have an old disc though.:)
