Tiptonic Oil Change

Found alot of write-ups on 993 Engine oil change but have not be able to find anything on Tiptonic Gear box oil change. Anybody has a write up on this? Are there a differential Oil 90wt to change too on the Tiptonics?

Cheers

No Comments?? Guess not many 993 on the forum are Tiptonic and have done their own tranmission oil change. Jack the car up today and saw, the auto gearbox has a sight glass that says Min and Max. Is this measurement based on Engine running and warm up or Non running and only as filling up indicators? - Cheers

You have to check the ATF level when the transmissiom is up to temperature. For a 964 TIP it's 80 degrees C (I assume that the 993 is the same, but not sure).

Here is the link to an article on the Boxster that you can use as a guide.

993 ATF change

The Boxter is somewhat different, but the referenced DIY gives you a pretty good idea of the procedure. Suggest getting the proper service manual.

Here are the standard 993 parts that you should have available:

pan gasket seal (PN 943 321 123 06), strainer round seal (PN 943 307 041 00), sealing ring (set of 3) (PN 900 123 007 30), sealing ring (set of 2) (PN 900 123 116 30), drain plug sealing ring (PN900 123 104 30), round seal for ATF Indicator Tube (PN 943 397 032 00) Filter (943-307-011-02-M30) and fluid.

Check your hot level before draining and measure the volume of drained fluid carefully, and use that to gauge the fill quantity.

I did a write up for changing the Tip ATF on a 964, it should be very similar.

The article is here.
