The newest addition to the family 964 with pictures

So we finally picked up the 964 project. She is beautiful. Just as described in the ad. It was a long ride from NewYork to VA but it was well worth it and now for the slippery slope of while its there. LOL. We went straight from picking up the car to dropping it off at the shop and the process has already begun. I bought KAEFERs car and let me just say he is a gentleman and a man of his word. I have nothing but great things to say about him so if anyone deals with him you can be reassured he is trust worthy. More pictures to come. She will be getting stripped down completely and getting a fresh coat of black paint and fixing any little imperfections cosmetically. If anyone has any good ideas before the paint feel free to share them.Let me know what you guys think.

I wanted that car but ended up with this one. You got a sweet deal on that one from KAEFER.

Shamus thank you. Mike hall I most certainly did. The car is mint inside. The one you got was that the one on Craigslist? Hey hall keep us posted on your build as well. I would love to see what you do as well maybe we can exchange ideas. Kaefer put a really accurate description on his ad and did not hide anything. Jpachard yes I am located in the Bronx and I have a few places where I keep my cars at but if you mean mechanically they only go to mike at mtech motorsports in new rochelle ny. More pictures to come this week as we continue to strip everything down and get here ready for paint.

Tony,

I was just going to send you a PM suggesting you start a build thread in the 964 forum. Thanks again for making a smooth deal! It just so happens I was able to fire up the 964 3.6 engine in my 911 for the first time this afternoon. It sounds MEAN and SMOOTH!

Keep the pics of the progress flowing!

Yep, this one cam from SC from a porsche shop that needed the motor only. I have a motor on the way along with another rear bumper and the car has an appointment with a body shop tomorrow to get the quarters back in shape. If all goes as planed, I will be doing a 73 RSR backdate as funds are available. Parts collecting will start soon.

I was going to ask why it needed paint looking at the pictures on the trailer. The close ups certainly educeted me.

I suggest a wide body conversion and shaving the rain gutters while you are in there.

Aigel I am debating the idea of deleting the gutters but I'm torn because these cars are so beautiful just the way they are. As for widebody I already own one so I'm going to keep this one narrow and put a good power plant in her.

Red, I'll be putting in a complete Cup Car cage in to my 964 in a few weeks. How easy was it to remove your 1/4 windows?

Cheers, James

jpachard the passenger side 1/4 window was not hard at all but the driver side 1/4 window was a pain in the A@@ it was glued on with some type of black rubber stuff that turned hard as a rock which is the gray looking stuff on the edge of the window. The windshield was a mother f@@@er it had the same stuff on it we cursed those two windows out ALOT lastnight lol. Thank god my friend mike at MTECH motorsports knew how to go about it and we where able to get it off but trust me it was not easy. Hopefully you dont have any of that stuff on yours and it should be fairly easy.

Update

So this is where we ar at now. Car is at the body shop and before taking bumpers, fenders and everything else off. I just had to see what was under the rust. We found some small holes and a little more rust that was not visible in the window area under the moulding. It looks as if someone tried to repair it before but just covered it with body filler. Needless to say now it will be getting cut out completely and sectioned in. So it will be repaired the right way. More pics to come.

Heart transplant

So after 250 miles of driving me and my friend rob picked up the engine for my 964. Its a 1995 993 I got lucky and found one complete with everything. Rick had it coming in on monday I received a video of it running and was on my way to get it yesterday. He would of had it cleaned up and pretty but I was in a rush and just wanted to get her back here. Its crazy how some things work out.

Timing is everything. Also Weekend rides is great. I had a great time going for the drive. I wish I could have gone to Mtech with you. I saw Mike the next day. He seems excited about doing the 993 to 964 swap.
