How often to change distributor/rotors?

Maintenance schedule says plugs every 60K, but what about other tune-up parts like the caps and rotors? How about spark plug wires? May do a clutch in 10K or so and it will be easier to access this stuff obviously then. Thanks!

I changed my plugs at 60K, even though they looked like new. I didn't change my caps or rotors, they looked fine also. At 60K, you should think about changing your distributor drive belt.
Coils, are also fairly inexpensive. Wires are expensive, and I wouldn't change them, unless you are having problems., leaking spark etc...

I would do the wires when the engine is out unless they look pristine and are less than 5 years old. Yes, they are $ but it is a lot more hassle to try to change them with the engine in the car. I would also worry that with the twin plug, you may not feel a bad wire in the performance of the engine as easily as on a single plug ignition system.

Drop the motor and do the clutch and all the sparkplugs, dist. caps/rotors and dist. drive belt. The pass side front sparkplugs are a b_tch with the motor in the car. I did this exact process 2 years ago. Also, bleed the clutch slave cylinder before you install the motor completely.

When a visual inspection dicates so. Severe errosion of the contacts, cracks in the material, etc. Or when you want that "feel-good" feeling of "new".

When the insulation shows signs of hairline cracking, and even then, they are still good to use in most cases. The place you'll see that is in the vecinity of the valve covers due to heat and tight bends of the cables. But if you use the stock 993 covers, the wires cannot short to those; they can to those aftermarket aluminium ones though. ;) When you get misfires. Or when you want that "feel-good" feeling of "new".
