Hall effect sensor and ESS wiring

I have recently retrofitted a 993 Varioram engine into my 1987 911 and at the same stage decided to fit an aftermarket computer. I have managed to wire up the whole computer with the exception of the Engine Speed Sensor which I need help with.

Can anyone tell me which wire is which on the hall effect sensor (I know the black is ground) and also the engine speed sensor? In both cases the wires are white and brown that I am not sure of.

From what I can see I need to confirm that the white wire on the hall effect sensor is the 5v input and the brown wire is the signal output.

With the ESS, I need to work out which is positive and which is negative.

Thanks in advance for your help.
