Frustrated in Toronto

After rebuilding my motor in 2010, the 964 has been on the rack for the last couple of months. Mainly because the mechanic is slow and busy on other stuff. Plus there was a foot of snow outside most of that time.

I brought the 964 in for what I thought was a hole or gap in the heat exchanger / exhaust gasket and found that number 6 cyl 'spat' out the gasket between the cylinder barrel and head....

Please see pictures.

Wondering what would cause this and if anyone has experience with this.

Thanks in advance...

Alright since no one is jumping in on this one. I'll update it. We pulled out the cylinder barrel (correct me if i'm using the wrong terms), cleaned it up, replaced with fresh sealing ring. I think / hope it may be that the head was not properly torqued the last time.

The head on no. 5 cyl was replaced, intake had to removed on the driver's side. Replaced it and will reset the valves.

Streather's manual suggests intake and exhaust valves to have gap of .004 inch or 0.1 mm. Does anyone set em up differently?

Then, check the timing through the distributor cap. Last time we had trouble with the intake getting 'blown' off.

Replace muffler, cat etc , top with oil and fire it up.

Hope for the best.

Am I missing any steps?

Maybe re-tuning the thread title?

or try the engine rebuilt Forum and Post; "What happened here"...

Fustrated in Toronto covers pretty well all sport fans; Maple Leafs, Raptors, Blue Jays, Argonauts

by the way, the seal ring was replaced and no troubles so far... unless you read an engine rebuild and electrical issue thread that I am starting!

engine still leaks from spark plug

electrical or fuel pump issue - intermittent... sucks!!!
