At last the immobilizer has been by passed,

Is this just a jumper for pins 30 and 87? Does it do the same thing as a jumper wire?

AFAIK, yes, it's just a jumper. A well known CT. shop makes their own, and reinforced my idea of how to go about doing this, But I found this in the wiring manuals and thought it to be a good way to go.

So by plugging in this relay, I can eliminate the pain in the arse immobilzer on my 95?

yes, it is for '95 993, my blue car, probably any other 993 that can swap chips in the DME

now my car is a bastard
'95 US chassis & DME
'97 RoW engine

but the electronics are all standard US 55pin OBD1 which is essentially what RoW n/a 993(Bosch DME version 2.10.1) use, the engine was a plug and play deal w/ rewiring necessary for the switch from non vram to vram and the elimination of the SAI pump.

my car has always thrown an 'Oh my god' light due to the custom chip, the cancel button on the console shuts it off

w/ the above relay bypass on the R61 relay the immobilizer is a non issue, get in turn the key , drive off. Remote door locks are unaffected

One of these days I'll get time to swap in the RoW non- immobilixer DME that came w/ the engine and see if that eliminates the 'Oh my god' light

That is cool but my '95 does not have a relay or socket in that location.

Relay is known as a bridge relay...its as stated, a jumper.. verrrry clever Mr Verburg....verrrry clever..

Any chance this will work on a late (June 1996) production???? This would be awesome. My understanding is that it the 96 C2 can not be chipped, so not sure if this would work.

The issue will be the '96 DME(assuming it is a US OBD2) car) the US '96 DME does not have a replaceable chip which is a prerequisite for bypassing the immobilizer

Bummer... I presume changing out the DME is not an option?

yes, the DME can be changed to a '97 or '98 US unit which does have a replaceable chip, there are also specialty shops that have the skill and equipment to resolder a chip into the '96 unit. I'm not at all familiar w/ this end at all though.

A friend had this done on his 993tt, the relay works as on my car, the chip was done by Musante Motorsports

wondering if anyone can help me I am rebuilding a 1998 993 Carrera when i purchased the car it did not come with the alarm fob. I purchased a used alarm Brain with a fob it would not deactivate the alarm so I purchased the other (under the drivers seat module) module and still no go. just wondering if the above fix would work.

Not correct! Guessing mis-leads, but not uncommon for what usually gets posted.
There's no replaceable CHIP!

As you well know but choose to ignore, the single chip sets used in the 88 pin US DME's are removable, it does take some skill w/ soldering tools. Once removed these chips can be replaced or reflashed and reinstalled to eliminate the immobilizer signal. As w/ the RoW 55pin DME's and US '95 DME's the relay jumper must also be used.

Is unsoldering, reflashing and resoldering as easy as pulling the '55 pin DME chip? No. But can it be done by someone w/ a little skill? Yes.

This is known to work in my car w/ 55 pin US, & 55 pin RoW DME's and in a friends 88pin US 993tt.

The twin chip sets used in the US 88 pin DME's are not reflashable so it's necessary to replace the whole DME w/ a '97 or '98 version.

But it's oh so much more fun to snipe and make snide comments than to actually provide useful information:rolleyes:

As I said, there's no replaceable chip.
Here's a picture of a '98 993 DME.
This DME is externally reflashable.

Furthermore, as seen in the picture, these DMEs are not "single chip" but have
two key/major 'chips' (two microcontrollers/microprocessors).

Right, which only applies to the US '96 DME.
As mentioned above, the '97/'98 are reflashable.
