95 993 not starting after washing engine
I have a problem with my car in that it's not starting. The problem occur after I washed the car's engine and let ii sat for two days. I'm not getting any fuel or electrical signal. I've checked the fuel pump and it's working. What could be the problem? Thanks for your help.
These are the things I've done, replaced the coil, unplugged and blow out the electrical connectors, changed the DME relay. Any and all help is appreciated. |

I had the "same" problem with mine ('95 993 also), but usually the engine starts after blowing out the electrical components. (I had included a hair blower as part of my "emergency kit" while I found the cause) I thought about changing the distributor caps and rotors, did you change them?

This is ridiculous - had the same issue a couple of weeks ago, found water in the crankshaft position sensor connector. Plenty of older cars have issues w/ water getting into places it shouldn't, not many have a grill opening directly above the engine though(!).
What's the fix? Pack connectors full of grease? What do our PAC NW friends do? Last edited by tom_s; 09-27-2011 at 02:54 PM.. |

Easy solution:
I use a heavy-duty plasic sheet under the lid to cover the engine before washing. To prevent accidental starting with the plastic over the engine, ignition key is under the floor mat. Works great on both the 911 and the 993. ![]()
