what is this?
This part goes in the shroud on the a/c condenser and another just like it went on the shroud for the oil cooler. Does anyone know what these do? Noise filter maybe? What is it called and where is the best place to buy one. One of mine fell apart when I touched it.

ballast resistor PN 964 616 521 01. they are for the a/c and oil cooler fans

Thanks smokey. I bet if I'd looked the PN is probably cast into the part... My first thought was they were for the fans but the fans work without them in the car. I'll order one and put them in, I have motor noise in the stereo and I'm hoping that's why.

it's not that kind of resistor, so I doubt it will help the radio noise. It is the low speed control for the fan. Without it, no low speed - only hi speed. Big Issue with the oil cooler fan, not sure about the a/c fan. I replaced it once, then went with a manual override switch when it failed again.

I see. thanks, that makes sense. That explains the double poles relays. I feel better about it now. High speed works for my setup. I noticed my engine noise coming and going so I'm thinking I have a loose ground somewhere.

if the noise is coming like e buzz near the radio,could be the small fan in the back of the CCU,known issue.... ciao |
