turn signal issue

Also posted on Rennlist.

Facts:
91 c2 turbo
Left blinker on the dash turns on but does not blink.
The lamp itself ,front and back does not even light up.
Left dash light turn indicator stays lit, no blinking.
The blinker relay in the console buzzes constantly when the left blinker in engaged.
The bulbs are good.
Euro roadside parking lights work on both sides.
When I turn the hazards on, only the left side work, both front and back.
My best guess is the actual switch behind the steering wheel is worn/gunked up.

I have tried a new flasher relay, spraying contact cleaner into the stalk and cursing loudly, all to no avail. If anyone has any other ideas please voice them in a way that makes me look like a dumbass. Next I will remover the steering wheel and take the blinker lever assembly off and try cleaning it if no one has any better ideas.

Thanks

I would hazard a guess that there is a short, what puzzles me is that the hazards work...sounds like the problem is indeed in the stalk switch

What happens when you put turn signal on left and then turn on hazards?..If no hazards there is definitely a problem or short in the stalk switch

When the left blinker is on the flasher relay is constantly buzzing, then I hit the hazards the rely quits buzzing and then the left blinker starts to blink, still no right side hazards.

Likely the stalk switch, try taking the colum surrounds off and use contact cleaner spray..if that doesnt work then you will need to remove the steering wheel

Out of an abundance of caution its best to disconnect the battery and wait 20 minutes when working around the airbag and its circuits..

It sounds like a dirty contact or short on your turn signal switch

Bird>list

Thanks for your thought. I think I will just pull the wheel and have it recovered since it is showing some wear. Two birds on stone.

I will post some pics of the switch once I get it figured out.

Well that wasn't it, I replaced the stalk switch and nada. I guess I'm digging into wiring now. On the bright side when the wheel was off I had it recovered in alcantera!

The whole:
Right blinker works and left one dosent,
Left hazard works and the right dosent,
confuses the **** out of me.

Anyone have a schematic for this system?

Thanks

Have you checked all the terminal ground connections on the flashers? If any have rust this could be your culprit. While in there, remove the bulbs and ensure there is no rust. Test the bulbs on the other side to ensure they work or add a new bulb just to ensure it is no something so simple.

Well I finally got the blinkers to work with some contact cleaner and a new bulb. The one bulb I replaced showed 4 times the restiance of the others. I took out all the connectors and cleaned them with some spray contact cleaner. I am still having the hazard issue so I will keep digging. Thanks for the help.
