WTB - primary bypass for '93 C4
Greetings, looking for a used primary muffler bypass for a 1993 C4. Will pay fair price and cover shipping. Located in Colorado. Thanks!

Do you have a muffler shop nearby?
From a Rennlist thread I posted: For those of you looking for a cheaper option for a primary bypass... After lots of research I decided a primary bypass was what I wanted, but couldn't see spending $300 for a shiny tube. So I asked a friend (muffler shop owner) to make me a primary bypass. They do a lot of custom NASCAR-type work, so a straight pipe with a couple of bends on the end should be pretty easy and cost less than $100. I had to take with my young son with me, so time was of the essence and led to a key game changer... just cut the muffler out?! So to simplify things I asked if he could cut the muffler, just after the bend on the straight part of the pipe, right before the pipe enters the muffler (with enough room to re-weld/attach if I didn't like the sound). Just cutting out the muffler means you keep the factory flanges, attachment bolts, and the factory bend. I would have preferred to have them make a complete bypass - flanges, bend the pipe, etc. but was worried about time and possible exhaust leaks. The good thing is that this is basically the same thing and cost a lot less... $50. Primary bypass - $50 muffler shop cup pipe - Rennlist Discussion Forums |
I guess my thought was I might want to put the factory muffler back on someday. Although, more parts floating around is probably not what I need either. Interesting idea, and I will keep it in mind.
