Correct way to do A/C delete?
Hello, I was curious what is right way to get rid of A/C bracket seen on this pic:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52900356/AC_delete/IMG_7414.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52900356/AC_delete/IMG_7416.jpg Looking at RS pics bracket is not there: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52900356/AC_...003c3ae58e.jpg But because engine mount bracket is bolted to A/C bracket. I got feeling that engine mount bracket needs to be replaced also. Here's parts diagram. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52900356/AC_delete/diagram1.jpg Do I need to obtain parts #11 & #12 for turbo or RS had special parts? Thanks! Oleg. |

I have one engine w/ the RS piece also w/ the single sheave 993 RS pulley http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331415294.jpg and one w/ a modified stock piece http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331415371.jpg To modify the stock piece cut off the top part, and you wil have what you see in the second pic, nothing else needs to be changed though some change the lower pulley too. You don't need the turbo engine carrier though I suppose you could use one, most everyone just reinforces the stock one unless it's a t/p where the engine carrier would need to be modified |
Thanks Bill.
It was not obvious from pics that I've seen before that RS used shortened aluminum console. My understanding that either dotted or solid line cut will do it: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52900356/AC_...G_7416_cut.jpg Dotted looks more like real thing, but most probably will need stud removed. I see in your upper pic it was replaced by bold. Thanks! Oleg. |

It's interesting how much more skimpy the construction is on the RS piece compared to the a/c bracket piece.
It looks like the RS piece sits flush with the right timing chain cover, versus the normal version kinda hovers over that area. |
