Importing Canadian Spec Car to US

Does anyone know if a Canadian spec 92 964 is certified to US EPA federal emission standards?

Also, does anyone have experience importing a car from Canada to US and know what that entails?

Mac

yes i sold my 92 964 into USA, does require a bit of work by you the importer.

the process is well detailed (importing a car from canada) in the online site of us customs - that's your starting point. i sold my 964 over 2 yrs ago, so little hazy on all details.

- 92 964 series were all built to usa standards & vehicle should have a certified "meets u.s. emissions" sticker....can't remember location, perhaps drivers side door or under the engine hood.
-you will need a letter from porsche n.amer. re the car & that it conforms to americqan standards for that model yr. that letter must identify car by its vin

the process for crossing the border is a little tricky, but talking to a vancouver canada broker who had sold a # of cars into usa always went ok if docs were in order.

buyer of my car simply had the car shipped to a bonded storage facility to be held pending receipt of all required docs.

Some models were sold in Canada but not the US. We had 930's continuously from 1976 where there was a gap in the US. I believe all 964 sold in Canada were also available stateside and were built to the same N Am standard.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the info. I was planning to fly up and drive the car back to the US. Apparently, as long as you have all the documents this can be done. I was going to make a short vacation out of it, but I've found a similar car in the US.
