Torque values-front hub C4

Please advise on front hub torque numbers for a '89 C4, and considering that the
new style nut has decreased in size. I have heard of 340 ft. lbs. This would
only be possible with a 3/4" drive and an appropriate shallow socket?

Thanks

I only have experience w/ the rear (see my response to your last thread on this topic).

I used an impact socket and a 1/2" drive torque wrench to get it up to 250lbs (max value on my wrench), then switched over to a 1/2" drive 18" breaker bar w/ a 24" cheater extension to put even more torque on it that way. I marked the nut/rotor w/ some paint as a referene point and it hasn't moved in the 4k miles since I put it back together.

I also reused the nut. I guess I'm just a bad guy.

torque on front huib nut

Thank's, but there is a different bearing setup in the front. I read on another thread,
that the value is 340 ft. lbs., that is unbelievable but possible. May try to contact local
dealer, who will be more than happy!!!!!!!]

Can you share more details on those tools? Drive size? Do you own or rent them?

Thank you for the info. re: 340 ft. lbs. That monster torque wrench is extremly pricey!
Was that a rental? If not $?

it's 3/4" drive
i bought it from an "industrial liquidators" type of biz for $165.00 from a Craig's list advert.
It does occasionally make the rounds among my friends <grin>.
If you're in San Diego we can workk something out...
