964 proto type exhaust v 2.0

hi some have asked and I am real close on the final iteration of the exhaust for the 964's this muffler will replace the primary and secondary muffler and not much louder then the 3.2 carreras with our 1in1 out. I will angle cut tail pipes and polish to simulate the stock look. I will post updates

+1

I have my secondary muffler bypassed, it's too loud for me. I've found a used stock muffler, but would love to find something in between

Our 1in1 outs we make for the 3.2 guys are very quiet imho but that was kind of what i was looking for in this project so we adapted what we new from the 3.2 cars and did the same thing here with the exception of a few things. I think it will be great. I will know this coming week hopefully then I will build an equal length secondary from a set of 1.625 headers that we make for Rarlyl8 to connect to stock or anything built for stock setup mufflers so you can keep em quieter then most. or thats the plan any way

This looks like a good solution to the secondary mufler bypass. There are too many clamps and bends in the system when going with a secondary muffler bypass and this looks like it will be a winner if it is priced similar to your 3.2 muffler.

similar priced will be the key They are about 45 minutes longer to make plus additonal bends and we will have to account for that I dont see them being any more though than a 2in2 out for example for the 74-89 cars

I just took 45 minutes and pulled the dyno max and resonator system with the custom tail pipe the PO put on it. Put on the proto type with the stock cat for fittment it fits snug but fits perfect. I have to work that tail pipe more also realized the po notched out the bumper a bit for the custome tail pipe he put on there. so mine will have to be a bit larger then stock to fit the opening oh well thats ok i can make it fit nicely. Started it up for 10 seconds and it sounds at idle same as 3.2 carrera with 1 in 1 out M&K I will have to make sure to make a pre muffler to meet my sound requirement

Did you make sure that the car has good engine mounts too? It seems a lot of 964's are still running original engine mounts that are worn out and letting the engine sag down a little. I'd hate to see you make a bunch of mufflers only to have tail pipe fitment issues. I'm looking forward to installed pictures.

Notfarnow,

Is your secondary bypass a factory part? If you remove it I may be interested.

Nice! Ben, any particular reason you decided not to go directly into the side of the muffler with the inlet pipe?

Because of the baffling internally I may do a motorsports version (read louder) coming into the side of the can as well
