Hi Everyone + question
First post but I have been following this site for quite a while. I just bought a 1995 993 C2 convertible to go with my other air-cooled 6 cylinder. I know it did not happen without pictures.
![]() Here is my question: I took the car in for the 60k service (plugs, all the fluids and filters) last week. Today I see three dangling connectors on the left side of the engine below the blower. I'm pretty sure they were not disconnected before the service but I could be wrong. I cannot see any obvious place were these 3 connectors go. Car drives fine, no warning lights. They are all 2 wire connectors with wire clips. Colors are 1- red / brown with red stripe (back) 2- gray white / red white (middle) 3- green white / red white (front) I took some pictures of the left side of the engine just behind the distributor caps. Any idea where these go? Thanks for your help! ![]() ![]() |

I have those as well on my 1995 993.
I kept notes after looking up the wiring colors in the wiring schematics... There are two spare connectors stashed between the No1 and No 2 intake plenum at the fuel rail. Connector 1 (black housing): red/white, grey/white. (Shift Valve Resonance Flap) Connector 2 (black housing): red/white, green/white. (Shift Valve Resonance Flap) They are used on the 1996 and up models with Varioram. That looks like a Bonanza. Is it? |

Thanks, Traveller! So the two red-white grey and green connectors are only used in 1996 and on. What threw me off was that they looked like they just had been disconnected. No gunk or discoloration.
Any idea where the red/brown connector goes? it is the one almost reaching the distributor caps. Yes, it is a F33A Bonanza with a 520 cu inch big bore air-cooled flat six. It uses a CIS-like fuel injection and has twin spark plugs per cylinder. About twice as much displacement for just a bit more horse power (285hp@2700rpm) but at much lower revs. Ignition is via dual magnetos, no battery required to run the engine once started. But you probably know all this ![]() |

I recently saw a thread with a connector like that one that had a short wire adapter on it with the other end going to a connector that goes on the rear blower fan. That might be it. Yup, spent many years as a flight instructor. One of our club members flew his 1955 V-tail Bonanza across the Atlantic (*) a few times, and that was in 1980 when it was already 25 years old. I went up in it a few times; a good solid airplane. (*) Labrador - Greenland - Iceland - Ireland... |

I dropped by the shop that did the 60k service. They mentioned that Porsche had a wiring harness TSB on the '95 model and they used the '96 and later model harness in the fix which explains the two unused connectors for the resonance valve flaps.
Still not sure about the third 2 wire connector (brown with red stripe, red). And yes, the blower is connected and running. Thanks for you help! |
