964 a/c problem
I have a 1990 c2 convertible with non-functional front blower fans. I dread the idea of replacing them due to cost and difficulty. I can feel cool air at the vents with no real force behind it. Is there a lo-tech alternative? Perhaps some kind of vent booster fan to pull the cold air out, something like the booster fans used with home central air vents?

If you are sure it is the fans you have no choice. It is not as big a deal as removing the evaporator but is not simple.

as of now im ok with riding with the top down as this is a weekend car, but I may do a little experimenting. I'll let you know how it goes.

Defective air flow control servos will severly affect the air flow. Are you really sure the fans are not working?

thanks Tore. Yes, I checked those this weekend and they work fine. I'm thinking the fans are stuck in that if I turn the fan speed above 3 it blows the #1 fuse.

I just dealt with this recently as I was having an issue with one of the front blower fans. I removed it, cleaned it, and re-lubed it and now the fan moves smoothly and queitly. If you check the 964 forum on rennlist.com you can find a number of writeups. I took some pictures and started a writeup, but haven't finished it.
Good luck, SKip |
