Help with rear blower

Hello, all
I removed my rear blower and associated ducting to get to the coils. When trying to reinstall now the two connections do not line up where indicated by the arrow.
I removed it several times and reinstalled and I can’t get it to line up and reconnect. It appears to be about a 1/2" off. I know the bung in back is inserted into the hole and the ac lines are not interfering.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Are you sure you have both bolts and the tab in back lined up right? My tab in back was bent by prior owner which made getting things lined up to put the two long bolts back in a pain...... There is also two part numbers for the top rubber fan shroud.... The one everyone sells is wrong.....possible prior owner replaced with am early shroud rubber?

911c2 I checked the paperwork and the PO did replace the shroud with part #964-106-403-02-M100
Looking at Pelican parts it seems to be the right shroud.
Could something have just shifted or what am I missing?
The only thing I can think of is the intake shifted to the left a little because that is basically what it attaches to.

Do you have a 993 style blower?
This is what happens when you so not shorten the shoulders on the 993 blower mounts, when installing on the 964.
This is also what happens when the previous owner of the car takes the car to Weissach for fan replacement. Ask me how i know this. You think they would have caught on, when the bolts didn't reach. Not.
This is also what happens when you go to another independent shop, afterwards. They leave the bolts in place, sort of, and the blower falls off. Ask me how i know this.

Creaturecat, I think you might be on to something. Would someone be able to measure the length of the shoulder on their 993 blower. Or if you have a 964 blower you could measure that. Does anyone know if the blowers have part numbers on them or a way to tell if I have a 993 blower or a 964 blower?
TIA

The 993 fan part number starts with 993.......
I shortened the two bosses approx 1/4 inch.
There is a bulletin out regarding this procedure.
