993 convertable top electrical problem
Can any help me out with my 95 993. The top was working fine before i left for a week. The car sat in the garage and when i came back the top will not work. I read on a post that someone else had a similar problem. When i toggle the console switch nothing happens other than a clicking sound that comes from the dash near the left gauges. I checked the fuse and replaced it still nothing. Hopefully it is a simple fix that can be done before the summer is gone here in canada. Thanks for any help

Just an update with my top not working. I took it to a Porsche mechanic who solved the problem. I didn't think it would be good for me to start trying to fix it myself. They can be quite a nightmare if you don't know what you are doing. Apparently two things have to be made before the top is allowed to operate. The neutral and the emergency brake switch. The emergency brake switch had broke so it wouldn't let the top to work. I should state that the recall was done on the 2 front motors by the previous owner. 150 dollars later I am enjoying the summer with the top down. Hope this helps if anyone runs into this problem.

The cabriolet top control unit is also known to fail, most often due to bad solderings in the output connectors. An easy fix for a electronics whiz and a soldering iron.
