964 18" wheels

James Ryder from Malaysia
964 C2 1990 with 18" wheels Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40F 245/35 R

Puzzled at how to use emergency spare. Remove emergency spare, compressor & jack (15/20 minutes) Supermarket shopping on the roadside!

Remove punctured wheel/tyre. (10/15 minutes) Install emergency spare and compressor pump to 40psi (10/15 minutes)

Now what do I do with the punctured wheel/tyre? Will not go inside car. Very much doubt whether it would go in the front compartment. And I have no intention of taking a wheel off just to try. And even if it would then where to put the supermarket shopping!

Finally, I doubt whether I have the strength to lift the wheel into the compartment even if it would go. And since my wife also drives the car a lot she would certainly not have the strength.

Appears simpler and quicker to call AAM (AA of Malaysia) for a tow truck to the nearest tyre centre.

Get rid of the emergency spare & compressor and have more space for shopping (and spares)

Would welcome any comments and roadside experience.

James

The removed full-size tire is suppose to be placed in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. When new, the car should have included a bag in which to place the tyre in order to not soil the interior of the car.

Thanks for comments

And where does the passenger go? In the luggage compartment?
Did Porsche supply a bag for the passenger?

90+ and still in a 911? That kicks ass! Porsche for life.

The tire is supposed to go in the back seat, but that may be more challenging then getting it in the boot.

WOW if I am still able to get in and out of my car at 80 I will be grateful

At 90 plus years ...call AAM

I had one flat and used a plug and inflate a can to limp home ..definitely less trouble than trying to get the wheel in the back seat..

I thought they are disposable?? j/k.

RyderMal: Where are you in Malaysia? You can just leave it there, I will pick it up after you

Good to see another MY here. Good luck.

Never had a flat on a 911 yet. So something new to know. Thanks.
