993 Stalk/Combination Switch Removal
Anyone have a good DIY on removing and replacing the 4-arm stalk switch for a 1997 993? I have the replacement part and have taken most of the steering column apart, plus loosened the stalk switch. Looks like two wire bundles run along the steering column and into/behind the dash where the connectors are mated, and they don't look easy to get to and even harder to probably re-install. I've never taken my dash apart and it wasn't obvious how to do it. Any recommendations?

Believe it or not its a piece of cake, look behind dash and you will probably find that the two wire bundles are held together with a plastic wire tie(usually white) CAREFULLY cut that away (I used X acto knife) and you will be able to pull the connectors through and reinstall
Th=e hard part is cutting the plastic tie Also you should remember that if you didnt disconnect battery and turn ignition on you will cause airbag fault and light wont go out without hammer/scantool/durametric Should always disconnect battery and wait 20 minutes before swimming (ummm working on airbag system) Last edited by 964TargaC2; 12-03-2012 at 02:40 PM.. |
