Airbag and Seat Belt Lights
I drove my car for the first time since my big project this morning. The alignment is definitely out of whack and I am glad I have an appointment to get that fixed, assuming I can make it the distance to the alignment shop tomorrow evening without the car stabbing me in the kidney.
But the airbag and seat belt warning lights are both on. I suspect I may have missed a connector while reassembling the steering column, and I plan to check for that. I know that the airbag light will be on until I find someone with a Hammer and a generous spirit. But what about the seat belt light? I do not know why that would be on while I'm driving with my seat belt fastened. I do not believe any wiring related to that got touched by my project. Maybe I jostled something without realizing it when I took the seat out. Ideas? |

It comes on as part of the "package" to alert you that your SRS is showing a fault..as if the one light isnt enough

Lovely. I'm surprised it doesn't also turn on the PDAS and high beam indicator lights while it's at it. Oh well, as long as it doesn't mean my seat belt is somehow deactivated I should be okay. Thanks!

Future adventurers: Make sure that you do not have any extra connectors when installing the contact unit and steering wheel. Extra connectors mean that you dropped one behind the steering column and will end up with warning lights.
I found the airbag connector. I had to fish it out but really wish I had done so before I put the battery back in last week. Oh well - the car goes down the road again and I can be happy with that until I find someone with a Hammer or other means of resetting it. |
